On June 16, according to the data from the state general administration of customs and taxation (Sunat), in May 2013, Peru's capital goods and building materials imports totaled $1.376 billion, up 5% from a year earlier.

Peru's building materials imports fell 3.4% year on year in May, this is mainly due to the partial product imports fell. For example, oil drilling components with wired glass, steel/iron material; building pipes and cast iron materials components.

In May agricultural capital goods imports fell 19.1% year on year, this is mainly due to the transportation and traction materials (33.7%) and agricultural machinery and tools (13.6%) imports declined, other agricultural equipment imports surged 179%.

In May industrial capital goods imports rose 5.9% from a year, this is mainly due to the office and scientific service machinery (+ 10.6%), industrial machinery (+ 6.9%), and other fixed equipment (+ 2.3%), industrial tools (+ 2.1%) and industrial machinery parts and components (+ 0.7%) imports has increased.

In May transport equipment imports up 7.6%, including fixed transportation equipment imports grew by 115.2% year on year; Transportation equipment parts imports grew by 9.6% year on year; Transport vehicle imports up 4.8% from a year earlier.
